As parents, we want to help instill a can-do attitude in our children. We know if they have this attitude they can conquer anything. But sometimes we over do it when it comes to helping instill this attitude; we have a tendency to do the task for them.
Self-confidence for kids comes from the fact that they can perform the task on their own. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a small act or not, the very fact that they performed it on their own is the crucial element to their self-confidence.
Give them plenty of opportunities to develop the can-do attitude, when they fail, be a coach and help them through it. For every success they have your child will approach the next challenge with a stronger sense of self-confidence.
