Leaders are action takers, they are initiators. They understand that they are responsible for moving people toward a greater goal. Good leaders must also understand that they cannot lead from above, they must lead with the people. Do something today that shows people that you are an action taker by “doing” not by “ordering”.
When new leaders gain authority and tend, sometimes, to use it for their own personal gain. It’s intoxicating, a feeling of power overcomes the individual and that leads them down a dangerous path. Remember, just because you have the right to do something as a leader doesn’t mean that you should. As your leadership skills mature then you’ll see the focus going from a self-serving influence to people-serving influence.
