It might be difficult to understand why disciplining your child leads to more discipline. Studies have shown that children raised with little to no discipline have low self-esteem, become more dependent, achieve less and feel more out of control. To the contrary, children raised with proper discipline have the opposite results.
In order for discipline to become effective there must be a solid relationship between parent and child. The child must know exactly what’s expected of them and what consequences may exist from misbehaving and are both predictable and reasonable. Remember, a child wants to please their parents and make them proud. By doing so, a child begins to feel a sense of being worthy and an increase in their self-esteem.
